Unidirectional gear converts bi-directional motion of a shaft in to unidirectional motion of another shaft. This feature is applicable in power generation as well as in power transmission.
Incorporating an offshore marine platform wave power is harnessing with a floating buoyant in ocean. The floating buoyant moored with straight rods that can slide along fixed guides and floated over the surface of the ocean waves. Due to rise and fall of ocean waves the floating body along with attached rods is sliding up and down along fixed guides.
When a floating body connected with a straight rod is linked with a rack of gears and this rack of gears meshing with a pinion gear wheel. The pinion gear wheel is meshing with will move up and down. Due to up and down movement of floating body, resulting reciprocal movement of rack of gears taken up by the pinion generates oscillatory movement on input shaft of unidiectional gear, thereby turned to continues rotation .
The platforms of the wave power generating assembly, is accompanied by underwater caisson , facing an inclined surface towards the wave front containing watertight chambers. It is capable of reflecting the hydro dynamic forces of waves upwards to floats . Such an structure is preventing the coastal erosion as well.
